2020 San Marzano Talò Salice Salentino

In 1962, 19 winemakers, determined to demonstrate the high potential of wines from Salento, founded "Cantine San Marzano". The Talò series from San Marzano are all very fine wines with authentic Puglia grapes with aging in oak barrels. elegant, complex and, as with all San Marzano wines, an excellent price/quality ratio.

The Talò Salice Salentino DOP is a blend of 85% Negroamaro, 15% Malvasia Nera di Brindisi coming from vineyards located in Salento, Puglia at about 100 meters above sea level. The soil is ferruginous, poor with a medium clay texture. It is therefore necessary to work hard through the vines, which remain healthy due to the cool sea breeze and can develop sufficient acids. The grapes are picked by hand and undergo a 10-day thermo-controlled low temperature maceration followed by alcoholic fermentation with selected yeasts. The wine is then aged for 6 months in French oak barriques.

The Talò Salice Salentino DOP has a bright ruby red color with purple hues. In the nose, the wine has an intense bouquet with hints of cherries, plums and spices and of Mediterranean herbs. This is a full-bodied wine with a pleasantly fresh aftertaste. Delicious with salami and cold cuts, richly flavored starters, red meat and cheese.
