2020 Quinta de Soalheiro Vinho Verde Alvarinho Reserva

The Alvarinho Reserva Vinho Verde comes from old vines. The wine spent 11 months in 35% new French oak. Only the finest and most concentrated grapes are used for this top wine, which benefit from aging with batônnage (stirring the groin) in oak barrels. The wine is nicely tight and dry (less than two grams of sugar and 5.5 grams of total acidity). The wooden upbringing makes this Alvarinho (Albarino) even more handsome than it already is by nature. The wine is beautifully balanced now in its youth and gets better with age. The Alvarinho Reserva has a beautiful complex nose with ripe fruit tones, minerals, wild flowers and something of brioche. The wine has an impressive structure and intensity, with ripe and generous fruit, minerals, tasty juice, a light toast and beautiful acidity in the aftertaste.
