2020 Kruger Family Wines Chenin blanc

Franschhoek was once called 'Olifantshoek', thanks to the many elephants that lived in the lush valley. With the arrival of the French Huguenots in the seventeenth century, the village was renamed Franschhoek. This wine is a true tribute to the workhorse – the chenin blanc – of South Africa. The cool southern location of the vineyard with its granite soil gives wines with a natural, energetic acidity. A low temperature fermentation, with only natural yeasts, in stainless steel and with a maturation 'sur lie', gives a beautiful wine.

The Chenin blanc - Franschhoek - Kruger Family Wines is a beautiful wine with a complex nose of citrus and tropical fruit, a beautiful structure, elegant acids and a long, salty aftertaste. This wine lives up to its name.

Kruger Family Wines winemaker Johan Kruger was named Young South African Winemaker of the Year in 2005 and was awarded 5 stars by top critic John Platter. Johan's passion is chardonnay but has proven his talent over the years in many other varieties and certainly around Pinot Noirs Johan Kruger grew up on a family farm called Sterhuis in Stellenbosch (South Africa) and learned the art of winemaking at Jordan Wines Stellenbosch and abroad in the US and Burgundy - hence the fine passion for vineyard specific terroir driven wines.
