Probably the most famous rosé internationally. Voted by the famous magazine “Decanter” as the best producer of rosé in the world. The domain comprises 53ha of which only 40 are planted with vineyards. The property is ideally located on a slate terrace that plunges down to the Mediterranean Sea near Brégançon. The domain dates back to the 18th century and has been owned by the Ott family since 1936.
The Domaines Ott Cuvée Étoile Rosé is the iconic top model of Domaines Ott which is issued in a very small edition and through an allocation model. A unique blend using only the best grapes from Domaines Ott's three domains; Château de Selle , Clos Mireille and Château Romassan . A signature wine that reflects Provence with the best characteristics of the different terroirs.
Clos Mireille's slate terroir is reflected in the sublime saltiness of this cuvée. The limestone soils of Château de Selle give this wine its finesse. The limestone and sandy marl soils at Château Romassan give Étoile structure and strength. This blend with 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvèdre is the most beautiful expression of a prestige rosé from Provence. A very Provencal rosé, clearly Ott in style, yet with its own distinctive character.
25% of the grapes (80% Grenache and 20% Mourvedre) are aged in spherical ceramic vats and the rest in large oak barrels, accentuating the purity of the fruit and improving wine with some aging.
Vintage 2020 from the Domaines Ott Cuvée Étoile Rosé has a crystal clear pink color with mother-of-pearl tones. The first impression on the nose is suggestive of grapefruit and vanilla. It opens with a delicious lemony and mineral freshness and an explosion of aromas of citrus and exotic fruits. The complex ensemble is lifted by a touch of wild peach, raspberry and mimosa. The wine is silky smooth, delicious and spicy on the palate, before becoming fuller, thicker and rounder with notes of mango and passion fruit. The freshness, supported by the spicy character of lime and mandarin zest, leads to a salty finish with a subtle peppery persistence.
Étoile reveals the identity of the Domaines Ott*'s three Provençal terroirs while highlighting their elegance, tension and incredible spirit. » A new vision has emerged, the promise of a moment of pure magic to enjoy again and again.
