2020 Domaine Vacheron Les Roches Sancerre
The two cousins, Jean-Dominique and Jean-Laurent, one of whom was trained in the famous Romanée Conti, now share the work in the vineyard of the 46 hectare estate Vacheron, helped by their fathers. They embody quality precision and their talents as winemakers have already crossed boundaries. The Pinots Noir and Sauvignon blanc of the Vacheron estate have become famous. The Les Roches is the top model and is the pinnacle of a Sancerre with minerality, finesse and intensity. Domaine Vacheron was the first in the Sancerre with a certified biodynamic culture (since 2006).
Previously known for its red Loire & Bourgone wines, today it produces white grapes on six plots. Vacheron opts for an authentic Sancerre style and so the Sauvignon Blanc grapes come from vineyards located on calcareous and fiery soils, which give the wine a freshness, minerality and crispness that belongs to a high-quality Sancerre. The white Sancerre Les Roches is an epitome of precision and burst of fruit with the distinctive minerality and generous texture to perfection. The mouthfeel is harmonious and refreshing with a mineral smoky finish.
