2020 Domaine Romy Bourgogne Pinot Noir
This Burgundy comes from the Pinot Noir. Not surprising, you will think, because that is standard. However, this one comes from the southern tip of Beaujolais. So Gamay grape country. The soil here is very suitable for this grape and the Romy family takes care of the rest with its certified organic approach.
Sophisticated and seductive! Both apply to this 100% Burgundy Pinot Noir from Domaine Romy. The wine has the typical Pinot Noir color: bright, light ruby red. On the nose beautiful, and surprisingly many, fruity aromas (blackberry, red currant) and also something floral. Also some earthy tones and a touch of toast and nutmeg. The taste is refined, with rounded tannins, the wine appears elegant and balanced. Pinot Noir goes well with light meat dishes or grilled fish, and also tastes delicious with tuna steak slightly chilled.
ABOUT DOMAINE ROMY
The vines of Domaine Romy are located in the Pierres Dorées, a region known here as "French Tuscany", on clay-limestone soils with an ocher yellow color. This type of soil is also particularly suitable for the cultivation of the Chardonnay grape variety. Nicolas Romy has also had a geological survey carried out by a renowned geobiologist who proves to him that certain plots of his vines have the same characteristics as in Volnay, in Burgundy. Hence the idea of planting Pinot Noir, the first crop of which was made in 2015. We must say a great success.
