Three young but already very famous winemakers - Fernando Garcia ( Bodegas Marañones ) , Daniel Gómez Jimenez Landi ( Bodegas Jimenez Landi ) and Marc Isart ( Bodegas Bernaveleva ) - are responsible for the Command G. with the intention to further develop the Madrid Regio de Grenache grape. to develop. All three winemakers produce under their individual label Top grenaches that can compete with the famous Chateaneuf wines, especially when you consider price. The area is ideal for the Grenache (high, warm during the day with considerable cooling, substantial limestone soil). Their vines are rooted in mainly granite soil vineyards at an altitude of at least 800 meters and are between 50 and 80 years old. Comando G was the name in Spain for one of those Japanese cartoon series of the 80s. Daniel Landi and his friends have used this and Comando G stands for Comado Grenache where their mission is to make the best Grenache in the world. This is one of the most exciting new projects in Spain!
Commandos like to be inspired by Burgundy. This wine is a good example of that. In addition to their parcel vineyards which they catalog as Grand Crus, here we have a 1er Cru from Rozas de Puerta Real at 900 meters altitude. Again a very fine Garnacha!. The Comando G Rozas 1er Cru has a bright red color, sparkling with even pink nuances. In the nose a fruit basket full of red fruit, berries, cherries and spiciness. Feathery start, but what an ending! Lots of complexity. Another gossamer Grenache!
