Château Talbot owes its name to the heroic English commander Connetable Talbot, who fell in 1453 at the Battle of Castillon. The largest and one of the oldest Château of Saint Julien, it is ideally located a short distance from the Gironde, where the vineyards are laid on a subsoil of fine gravel and produce one of the finest red wines of Saint Julien.
The popular Château Talbot produces wines with a good price-quality ratio. In the last 10 years, a lot has been invested in equipment and vineyards and that is why, year in and year out, good constant top Bordeaux is made, which is still relatively affordable. The Talbot is medium garnet purple and opens with beautiful floral notes of roses and lavender with a core of cassis, blackberry, cigar box and a little mint. The Talbot is medium-bodied with a nice intensity of black and red fruit flavors and has a ripe, grainy texture and an appealing freshness with a tasty aftertaste. Antoni Gallani of Vinous writes in his review of the 2020 Talbot "The 2020 is superb, certainly the best in recent memory"
