The Pontet-Canet Pauillac is composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. In the glass it has a medium to deep garnet-purple colour. The 2017 Pontet-Canet has beautifully scented notes of rosehip tea, lilacs, cinnamon stick, cloves, leaves and undergrowth with a core of cherry, raspberry, warm plum and red and black currant plus a hint of pencil shavings. The taste is medium-bodied, refreshing, mineral and wonderfully elegant with a well-played texture of accessible, soft tannins and a long, fragrant finish. The Aging took place in 50% new and 15% in second year oak barrels and the remaining 35% in amphorae for 16 months, much of the material coming from the ground in Pontet-Canet! Another topper
