Coudoulet wines can rise to unprecedented heights in great years and are often preferred over the much more expensive Beaucastels. The white Coudoulet is a blend Marsanne 30%, Viognier 30%, Bourboulenc 30%, Clairette 10%. The grapes are hand picked and lightly bruised and after the fermentation the wines are kept for 8 months in wooden barrels and stainless steel tanks before the wine is blended. In the glass, the white Coudoulet from Chateau Beaucastel is pale yellow. In the nose the wine is floral with ripe white fruit, apricots, white peach, fennel. In the mouth it has a very pleasant freshness, a nice bitterness, minerality and good dryness. The open perfume vibrates with floral aromas such as honeysuckle and orange blossom surrounding a core of white peach. A touch of lime gives this wine an unparalleled length.
