2020 CEPA 21 HITO
Bet your friends think this wine costs twice as much? HITO is a dynamic wine , modern, along the lines defined by the winemaker. HITO breaks the trend in the development of young wines. If Emilio Moro was already innovative in his days with his six months aging on a young wine, the HITO has had an even longer wood aging of 8 months in oak and that brings more subtlety and elegance. Cepa 21 has set a new standard in the Ribera del Duero : technology, facilities , research, marketing . The Hito is one of the wines from the Ribera with the best price/quality ratio that can be found. Parker speaks in his review about " A benchmark Ribera at a very attractive price "
Cepa 21 is the latest wine project from one of Ribera del Duero's best winemakers: Emilio Moro. At Cepa 21, the family makes wines that are pleasant to drink even in their youth (because their top cuvées take about 5-7 years to drink). The 'Hito' ('milestone') is a modern-styled Ribera del Duero, elegant with a beautiful ruby red color, a ripe nose of blackberry, black cherry, strawberry, pepper and incense, quite powerful and deliciously fruity (cassis) in the mouth. Very long finish, pleasantly spicy and with nicely integrated wood and vanilla notes. Nevertheless, there is a striking freshness that saves the wine from a tiring aftertaste. This is the latest wine from the Moro family and it lives up to all expectations.
