Cepa 21 is the latest wine project from one of Ribera del Duero's best winemakers: Emilio Moro. At Cepa 21, the family makes wines that are pleasant to drink even in their youth (because their top cuvées take about 5-7 years to drink). The 'Hito' ('milestone') is a modern-styled Ribera del Duero, elegant with a beautiful ruby red color, a ripe nose of blackberry, black cherry, strawberry, pepper and incense, quite powerful and deliciously fruity (cassis) in the mouth. Very long finish, pleasantly spicy and with nicely integrated wood and vanilla notes. Nevertheless, there is a striking freshness that saves the wine from a tiring aftertaste. This is the latest wine from the Moro family and it lives up to all expectations.
