Casar de Vide is located in the municipality of Castrelo de Miño in the province of Orense, just a few meters from the River Miño. It is a beautiful landscape where the vineyards decorate the land with their elegant contours and unevenness. Casar de Vide means House of the Vineyard and is composed of the terms Casar, the name given to traditional Galician houses, and Vide, given by Concello de Vide, known for its traditional viticulture. The winery is located in the heart of Ribeiro DO, the oldest in Galicia, and aims to become one of the winegrowing benchmarks of the region, where excellence and quality are essential identifying features. Vina Mein and Valdesil are examples of pioneers in the Ribera where Spain's most elegant wines come from. Wines with complexity, elegance and sea injection.

The winery is located on an area of 2200 square meters and was built in 1988 with granite masonry next to the historic house that was founded in 1957. Casar de Vide has been able to integrate modernity, technology and an edge over the classicism of a country with a unique potential. It has a reception and processing building for grapes, a fermentation and storage building, a bottling and filtering room, a storage area and a room for visits and wine tasting.

Casar de Vide is a unique project with 2019 being the first vintage with which the wines come to market and is a project that Carlos Moro the CEO of Gruppo Matarromera has been working on for many years in his continuous quest to produce unique wines from the Spain's most rugged and striking wine region. Casar de Vide's philosophy is to use the best grapes to produce white wines from indigenous grapes that stand out for their elegance and subtlety, convey freshness and delicacy,

The 2020 vintage was an excellent year in the Ribeiro. Fresh and cool, but that is what gives the wines from this region the elegance. The only drawback was that the yields have been very low. The Atlantic winds and the cool climate ensure a slow maturation, giving the wines the typical Burgundy-like elegance. The vineyards with which this first Casar de Vide Treixadura was created were selected for their proximity to both banks of the Miño River, with different orientations, so that the treixadura expressed different nuances: freshness in the most shady orientations and in other places more maturity and all vineyards have a thick pebbly soil

The Casar de Vide Treixadura is a blend of Treixadura (85%) Albariño, Godello and Torrontés grapes. In the glass, the Casar de Vide Treixadura has a vibrant pale straw yellow color with greenish and steely reflections, clean and very clear. The nose is frank, intense and very direct, with hints of freshly cut apple, green banana peel, also green apricot and soft touches of white flower and carnation, with certain tropical memories of fresh pineapple. Subtle citrus grapefruit in the background. On the palate it has excellent length and balance, with the fresh sensations of its Atlantic origin, with a lively acidity and the rich aromatic sensations on the palate where clear memories of fresh apple and peach are perceived. The wine has a long, lively and balanced finish.

This beautiful white wine is a true pleasure wine and a perfect accompaniment to grilled scallops, caviar, creamy fresh cheeses, rice and pasta dishes, octopus and tuna.

ABOUT GRUPPO MATARROMERA

Following the wine-growing tradition of his Castilian ancestors, Carlos Moro made his dream come true, and in 1988 he founded the Matarromera bodega in Valbuena de Duero (Valladolid) with a clear goal in mind: to prepare quality wines with the most advanced technology and the traditional cooking methods. The biggest challenge Carlos Moro faced was his choice of new barrels for the maturation of his wines, an initiative that was new in the region at the time. Another key to Matarromera's immediate success was its excellent vineyards, right in the heart of the "golden mile" of Ribera del Duero. Today, a quarter of a century later, Carlos Moro continues to design projects, and continues to produce more and more sophisticated wines. Matarromera's focus on quality wines stems from the vineyard itself. Thanks to the work begun by Carlos Moro's ancestors, loving care for the vineyard has been a constant factor. No contrived in the Bodega but a good wine comes from a top vineyard.

At Grupo Matarromera, sustainability is very important and the Matarromera Group was chosen in 2007 by IESE [Institute of Higher Business Studies] as the most environmentally friendly organization in Spain. The winery currently generates more energy than it consumes. Each bodega of the Matarromera group is a sustainable building and is designed to utilize natural lighting, provide optimal insulation and use both rainwater and wastewater effectively.

Recently, the Spanish winery has launched a new cosmetic line called Esdor. The products of this line use the antioxidant-rich grape skins that remain after wine making. According to the company, the red grape skins are a source of polyphenols. These are said to be effective against aging and reducing the elasticity of the skin. They keep the skin soft and supple. The cosmetic line includes nourishing creams, moisturizing creams and eye contour products. Natural ingredients are used for cosmetics.
