2020 Buitenverwachting Buiten Blanc

In the beautiful Constantia area, owner Lars Maack, together with winemaker Brad Paton, actually only produces wines in the top segment: fresh and full-bodied wines. The slow maturing climatic conditions with cold nights and modest daytime temperatures translate into fresh, crisp and full-bodied wines.

The Buiten Expectation Buiten Blanc is without a doubt one of the most popular South African wines in wine bars and restaurants around the world and rightly so, just a very well made crisp white blend of Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc and a touch of Viognier. The wine has had no wood aging and is raised for 100% in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and this gives and keeps the wine its freshness and crispness. This Buiten Blanc is surprisingly full with aromas of fruit on the nose and mouth including ripe gooseberries, green melon and tropical fruit, complemented by peppers. The addition of the Chenin Blanc grape gives this wine complexity and some 'spicy' aromas. This is a delicious aperitif and delicious with or with fresh salads, dishes with chicken and fish dishes (without a sauce of butter or cream).
