Borgogno is one of the very first and probably oldest wineries in Piedmont. The Italian winery strongly believes in the classical and traditional philosophy, which is its strength; For years, the observance of these traditions has been passed on to subsequent generations. Borgogno owns 13 hectares of vineyards, 9 of which are planted with the Nebbiolo grape. The wines are all vinified in traditional ways to produce unique and structured wines. The wines are produced sustainably.
This 100% Nebbiolo from Borgogno is a very affordable alternative to the often extremely expensive Barolos. In the glass the wine is garnet red, with a brick red edge as befits a good Nebbiolo. In the nose we smell roses, autumn notes, licorice and tobacco. In the mouth this wine is already velvety soft with the tannins present but already beautifully round and well integrated. The wine is already surprisingly good to drink but will improve even further with time. We recommend that you decant this beautiful Nebbiolo or open the bottle at least an hour in advance. This Nebbiolo is an excellent accompaniment to minestrone soup, pasta with mushroom and shallots and sweet potato.
Rating De Grote Hamersma: 9+
"Dark plums, black cherries, shadow blackberries, bitters and acids. Compact but not tight anywhere. Baby Barolo. But one that weighs nine pounds."
