The Col di Sasso has a special combination of two grapes, in this case the exotic cabernet with the local sangiovese. A little less unusual, because in Tuscany it is nowadays good practice to mix sangiovese, the grape from Brunello itself and of course also from Chianti Classico, with cabernet (or merlot). The grapes are planted on the rockiest part of the vineyard. These grapes must be kept in check due to poor soil. The sangiovese gives the wine fullness and roundness, the cabernet gives it fruit and backbone. And that works very well, in combination with a subtle wood tone.

Grape Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese
Color : Deep red.
Smell : Beautiful sultry scent with lots of fruit, nice sweet and broad, cassis and vanilla, cherries, blueberries, seduction.
Taste : Smooth and juicy, not too strong in the taste, cherries, fresh acidity, juice, lively, exciting, not too strict.

Brunello di Montalcino is a special wine region, but within Brunello Banfi is a special winery. About 800 hectares of vineyards have been planted on the estate of no less than 2830 hectares, making Castello Banfi by far the largest and most important producer of Brunello di Montalcino. In addition, all kinds of other wines are made on the basis of the region's own grapes or imported grape varieties such as chardonnay or pinot grigio. The estate is dominated by a beautifully restored medieval castle, which houses a glass museum, a wine shop and two restaurants. This makes it more than worth a visit.
