Description
One of the most famous wineries in Baden is Weingut Salwey. The winery is especially appreciated for its phenomenal wines from Grau-, Weiß and Spätburgunder, all of which are among the best wines in Germany. Other specialty is the Weissherbst (rosé type) from Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) and Riesling. The history of the winery dates back to the mid-18th century, with Weingut Salwey remaining unchanged in family hands and still located at its original location in Kaiserstuhl, Baden.
The total vineyard management covers 39 hectares with vineyard properties in: Oberrotweiler Kirchberg, Eichberg, Henkenberg and the Glottertaler Eichberg. A new cellar in Niederrotweil provides the much-needed air and space for the planned expansion of 10 hectares of vineyard. Weingut Salwey is a member of the VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter), which includes the best wineries in Germany.
A delicious red Spätburgunder or a German Pinot Noir from Baden - without a doubt one of the most beautiful areas for the elegant and fruity Spatburgunder. In the glass the wine is cherry red with a light edge as befits a Spatburgunder. This Spatburgunder can be summarized as a sturdy, full, dry, fruity red wine. In the glass the wine has a light cherry red wine as befits a Spatburgunder. The wine is much more powerful than the color suggests. Lots of red fruit, lots of juice, lots of elegance. Very concentrated aftertaste. Pinot Noir at its best!
Special distinction: Gold Medal, Thesis Wine Competition 2010, category wine specialty store red,
This is a delicious wine with fried salmon, grilled tuna, Peking duck, pork.
