The Villa Lorren Amarone delle Valpolicella is an Amarone with a unique price/quality ratio. The grapes are dried in controlled warehouses until January. During this drying process, the grapes lose about 30% of their moisture and 25% of their weight. In January the grapes are pressed, after which the fermentation takes place in steel vats at a controlled temperature of 15ºC. The wine is then aged for 24 months in oak. The wine is ruby red in the glass with hints of blackcurrant, cherry, chocolate and raisins on the nose. The wine is sultry but not excessive in the alcohol and the wine has a surprising freshness. This is an excellent Amarone at a very attractive price. The Villa Loren goes perfectly with rich pasta dishes, game and grilled or stewed red meats and also with mature cheeses.
