2019 Vieux Château Certan Pomerol

Vieux Château Certan combines savoir-faire with exceptional soils. Mainly sourced from the oldest vines of the vineyard, Vieux Château Certan is a blend of the most excellent plots produced on the estate every year. The brilliance of the wine's hue, the richness of its aromas and the subtlety of its taste give it an inimitable style. The wines of Vieux Château Certan have a natural concentration and must be kept in the cellar for several years before the first bottles can be opened. As with the greatest Bordeaux wines, they can be enjoyed after 10 to 15 years and have a very fine aging potential.

The 2019 vintage is a blend of 78% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon. Very deep purple-black in color, the 2019 Vieux Château Certan Pomerol opens slowly and reveals with an intense perfume of red rose, cherry, black raspberry, violet and star anise over a powerful core of preserved plum, blueberry tart plus hints of cardamom, sandalwood and Ceylon tea. Medium to full bodied, the wine on the palate very elegant, with tightly wrapped layers of crisp blue and black fruit with tannins so ripe and fine grained that you really have to look for them. The acidity here is absolutely seamless and the finish explodes in a series of mineral sparks. The wine has received (97-100) points from Parker and 99/100 from Suckling (and is in the overview of the top 100 best wines in the world). Parker ends his review with: "....Be prepared to fall head over heels for this one"
