2019 Rivera Negroamaro Salento

With this Rivera Negroamaro winery Rivera shows the balanced mix of the characteristics of the Negroamaro grape coming from vineyards located in Salento peninsula - the southernmost part of Apulia ( Puglia )

The Negroamaro is today one of the most renowned Italian grape varieties with its intense, fruity and soft character. The unique (and cool) location of the Rivera vineyards makes it possible to make a very accessible and fresh wine that enhances the intense aromas of the black fruit of this variety.

The Negroamaro grapes are harvested in the second week of September and fermented for 7-8 days at 25°C in stainless steel vats with frequent battonage to allow good contact between the juice and skins. The wine is then aged for 9 months in glass-lined concrete vats to keep the fruit and varietal character intact. Rivera's Negroamaro Salento has a deep ruby red color with a complex bouquet of wild dark berries, some coffee and a spicy touch. On the palate, the wine is medium bodied with the pleasant, bitter note typical of the Negroamaro. The freshness and nice acidity keep everything in perfect balance. The price quality of this wine is excellent and the wine is very versatile. Simply enjoy or as an accompaniment to pastas, soups and meat. Do not serve the wine too warm. We recommend around 16-17 degrees. The wine can be kept well for 3-5 years and will then continue to develop.
