Quintessa is one of the iconic wines of Napa Valley in California. This Cabernet Sauvignon dominated wine (the 2019 vintage contains 91% Cabernet Sauvignon) is made in Rutherford. Quintessa is made completely organically and biodynamically. The 2019 got 100 points from Roger Voss on Wine Enthusiast! The 2019 Quintessa is an almost European digestibility and yet really Napa. Delicious deep fruit, earth, chocolate, licorice, eucalyptus. The Quintessa 2019 offers nuance, depth and a lot of perseverance. A complex of floral, forest, fruit and earth notes harmonize with fine-grained tannins and lively acidity. The 2019 Quintessa is drinking well now for those who prefer a youthful expression, but will also cellar for at least another twenty years for those who enjoy the complexity of age.
“This is a winemaker's master class in blending and understanding of a longstanding site. Dried herb, cedar and pencil shavings accent lifted red fruit and brilliant acidity on the palate, with a supple yet still youthfully grippy texture that is framed by structured, graceful tannins”

ABOUT QUINTESSA
HIDDEN IN THE HEART OF RUTHERFORD, Quintessa is set on a 280-hectare site that reflects a diversity of geology, biodiversity, exposures and microclimates. Inspired by this distinctive terrain, founders Agustin and Valeria Huneeus believed it was destined to become one of the world's greatest wine estates. Today, a total of 160 hectares are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Carménère on 26 vineyard blocks. Each block is harvested - organically and biodynamically - and vinified individually to preserve the nuances of the land
Depending on the vintage, Quintessa may include some or all of the five varieties grown on site: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Carménère. The fruit is harvested early in the morning, then sorted and gravity fed into oak, stainless steel or concrete tanks and vinified. Once fermentation and maceration are complete, the wine from each lot is aged separately in French oak for up to two years. After the final Quintessa blend is made, the wine is bottled and kept for another year before release.
