2019 Podere Il Carnasciale Il Caberlot

The Il Caberlot is the iconic wine of Poderi Il Carnasciale and is made from the grape is caberlot. This grape is so called because it shows characteristics of cabernet franc and merlot. Il Carnaciale is the only winery that makes wine. The production consists of only 2,000 bottles per year and the wines are 95% bottled only in magnum and are distributed among the high-end Horeca. The labels of the wine bottles differ every year due to the hand-painted cross and the colors of the labels. The owner of the winery also writes down the bottle number with her hand per bottle. We are the only one with a limited number of 0.75 liter bottles. Those bottles will be marked with the word "Sommelleria" on the front label.

IL CABERLOT is bottled unfined and unfiltered, mainly in magnums, which mature in the cellars for a further 16 months before release.

The Il Carnasciale Caberlot has a dark red color and is a 100% Caberlot which has become a mythical variety (a cross between Cabernet Franc and Merlot). The wine has a robust and intense character with aromas of dried blackberries, plums, spices and cedar smoke. In this wine you can also taste an expressive and exotic aroma with notes of black currants and blueberries. The mineral notes are very present. The wine has a beautiful body and fine tannins. Always prominent are the notes of white pepper and flowers, as well as dried herbs, sometimes bordering on the oriental, which distinguish the wine and give it a truly unique character, always recognizable. We recommend pulling out the cork a few hours in advance to let the wine bloom. This wine opens at a special moment and is an absolute collector's item
