2019 Maison Champy Bourgogne Chardonnay Cuvée Edme

Maison Champy is the oldest winery in Burgundy and was founded in 1720 in Beaune. Louis Pasteur worked on this iconic domain to learn the trade and Gustave Eiffel worked at Maison Champy after building the Eiffel Tower for the World Exhibition in Paris and designed the building for the Maison Champy winery according to the Eiffel architectural style.

Maison Champy manages a large part of its 21 ha of vineyards on the Côte de Beaune - especially in Pernand-Vergelesses - organically in order to preserve and highlight the true character of this exceptional terroir. Precision viticulture is the goal of Maison Champy. The importance of the environment means that every treatment follows the practices of sustainable and organic farming.

This 100% Chardonnay Bourgogne Cuvée Edme is the "signature" of the oenologist Dimitri Bazas. This Bourgogne Chardonnay comes from a selection of the best Chardonnay casks from vineyards in the classic regions of Puligny, Meursault and Rully. This harmonious blend gives it both the classic character of Chardonnay from the Côte d'Or and the floral elegance typical of the Côte Châlonnaise.

In the glass, the Maison Champy Bourgogne Chardonnay has a bright yellow gold color with golden highlights. It has a strong aromatic intensity. The nose is rich with notes of exotic fruits and white flowers, notes of caramel and vanilla with toasted bread in the background. Fresh in the mouth, a lush body, soft and round.
