Le Crocine is a domain in the Bolgheri wine region and was founded by Niccolò Marzichi Lenzi. The Lenzi family is a prominent family from Florence and Niccolo's mother is Ilaria Antinori , sister of Piero and Lodovico Antinori. His wife Joy is responsible for the domain Le Crocine. So these top Bolgheri wines also have Antinori roots.

The Le Crocine Toscana is a blend of 70% Cabernet Franc - 20% Merlot - 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. This Cabernet Franc based Bordeaux blend, is assisted by a touch of Merlot with its velvety tannins and supported by the freshness of the Cabernet Sauvignon. The combination of these varieties come from very different terroirs and reinforce each other very beautifully, making this a beautiful Italian bordeaux (or French Bolgheri). After sorting the grapes, the full berries are put into small stainless steel vats by gravity. The grapes undergo a short cold maceration before fermentation begins naturally, followed by the malolactic. Once both fermentations are complete, the wine is gently moved into second and third year French barrels for about 8 months. During this time, agitate the dregs to make the wines rich by doing some "battonage". Le Crocine contains a healthy portion of tannins and is a very complex wine and a top Super Tuscan. Elegant with fresh red fruit, fine-grained tannins and with some time also some spices, leather and wax roasted coffee notes unfold.

FACT: The sister-in-law of Nicolo Marzichi Lenzi is the famous actress Eva Green. This bond girl is also the daughter of Marlène Jobert, a French actress who often appeared on the silver screen between 1960 and 1980. The top model of Le Crocine de Cuvee Eva is named after Eva Green.

ABOUT LE CROCINE

Bolgheri is located in the municipality of Castagneto Carducci in the Maremma, on the coast of Tuscany. From the 1970s, Bolgheri was put on the map for quality through the production of the famous Super Tuscans such as Sassicaia, Tignanello and Ornellaia. Niccolò grew up on a farm in the middle of Tuscany and wine is part of his DNA. The memories of his father's walks through the vineyards and the sound of the Sangiovese fermenting inspired him to make his own wine. After many years of traveling, he returned to his roots to make his dream come true, together with his wife Joy Green. The intense, terroir-driven wines of Le Cro-cine have achieved cult status in a short time. Le Crocine produces 4 impressive red cuvées, all with a unique personality and based on the classic large Bordeaux grapes: cabernet (franc and/or sauvignon) and sometimes a bit of merlot - so Supertuscans through and through, but with the roots from the Antinori family isn't that strange.
