2019 Laurent Tribut Chablis

Good Chablis, like all the better wines from the region, is characterized by an elegant light structure and a pleasantly balanced freshness. The chardonnay grapes for this type of Chablis, which can be made throughout the region, usually grow on a so-called Portland soil, a hard crusty soil that is largely composed of layers of clay and many rocks in which minerals, lime and marl are less abundant than in the better parts of the area.

Laurent Tribut was apprenticed to his brother-in-law Vincent Dauvissat for over 10 years before spreading his wings. His Chablis surpass many 1° Crus. All of Tribut's wines are luscious yet finely defined and have a very complex and long finish. Wonderful wines! This young domain already belongs to the top of Chablis.

Tribut's Chablis (Village) comes from a soil which consists of clay and many rocks with minerals, lime and marl. After manual harvesting, the Chardonnay grapes undergo spontaneous and temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks until malolactic fermentation occurs. This is followed by maturation in wooden barrels. The wine is further aged in used French wooden barrels, without bâtonnage. This beautiful (certainly price/quality) Chablis from Tribut comes from the beautiful year 2019 (top quality but very minimal yield). Very light straw yellow in the glass with ripe citrus, white flowers and toasted almonds on the nose. Tight and salty mouthfeel, lots of tension and minerality
