Kloovenburg Estate is located in the Riebeek Valley in the Swartland region. The foothills of the Riebeekberg with their schist soils form the ideal substrate for growing the best quality grapes. There were already vines here in the mid-18th century, but it was only with the Du Toit family that the grapes were transformed here into quality wines. The Kloovenburg now belongs to the best 5% of all wines in the world according to the consumer opinion of Vivino and Platter and Tim Atkins (the specialists on African wines) also rate the wines of Kloovenburg very highly.
The Kloovenburg Chardonnay Unwooded is, as the name indicates, a wine that has not had a wood age, so that the flavors and scents of chardonnay come into their own 100% without the influence of oak wood, so no, no butter or vanilla, but notes of pineapple, banana and other tropical fruit. In the mouth the wine is both fresh and creamy (very handsome because this is not the result of oak barrels but precisely because of the great balance between acidity and fruit) with a balanced acidity. This is a fresh style Chardonnay. Super elegant and plenty of fresh fresh fruit.

There were vines here as early as the mid-18th century, but it was only with the Du Toit family that the grapes were transformed into quality wines here. In 1998 Pieter Du Toit made his first Shiraz. The success of this was the deciding factor in renovating the cellar and transforming it into a brand new winery.
With the arrival of winemaker Jolandie Fouché, it became even clearer that Kloovenburg can be counted among the better wineries in South Africa. She started here at the end of 2014, after having worked for Saronsberg in Tulbagh for 4 years. Jolandie Fouché: 'I grew up in Swartland, so I have a good understanding of the culture and climate that I want to reflect in my wines. My philosophy is simple: I believe that good wines start in the vineyard and, as with everything in life, balance is the key to success.”
