The Denis Bachelet's Côte de Nuits-Villages 2019 has beautifully fresh and fresh aromas of cassis, plums and cherries with hints of sweet herbs and loamy soil all pressed into an inviting bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, concentrated and textured, with lively acidity and velvety tannins. A collector's item and certainly now that the proceeds in 2019 were 40% lower than usual.
Denis Bachelet took over the nearly 4 hectare 'large' domain from his father in 1983. In the small domain there are still very old vines (30 years with the regional AOCs to 100 years with the Charmes Chambertin!). The natural yield of these very old vines is very low, but the perfectionist Denis Bachelet did not think that was good enough. By cutting very drastically and low, the maximum yield is reduced even further. Given the small size of the domain, the age of the vines, the perfectionist drive for the very best quality, it is no wonder that Denis Bachelet wines have become highly sought-after cult articles worldwide.
