Château Siran is the result of a subtle blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, reflecting the identity of its terroir. The relatively high percentage of petit verdot provides a spicy note that enhances the unique character of Sirans wines. Both powerful and subtle, Siran's wines always seek a balance between the softness of the tannins, the intensity of the fruit and a lingering freshness. Siran wines are known for their aging potential, even long aging that will delight the most patient. The 2019 Chateau Siran is a blend of Merlot 47%, Cabernet Sauvignon 45%, 7% Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc 1%. In the glass, the wine has a deep garnet-purple color. The 2019 Siran slides easily from the glass with fragrant notes of violets, blackberry tart, fruitcake, black currant pastilles and dried lavender with hints of kirsch and chocolate mint. The medium to full-bodied palate is packed with perfumed layers of black fruits, knitted with a solid base of firm, fine-grained tannins and tons of freshness, ending on a lingering mineral note. This is a very impressive achievement for Siran.

The family story began in the mid-18th century, when this complete, harmonious estate, rich in biodiversity, seduced Léo Barbier with undeniable charm. His two daughters married the brothers Paul and Alexandre Sollberg in 1866. But the two sons-in-law went bankrupt between 1883-85 and hurriedly left to live in Argentina. In 1885, the family called on a cousin, Fréderic Miailhe, son of Elie Miailhe and Lovely Sollberg, to manage Siran with a Sollberg son-in-law, Marcel Mortier. Fréderic Miailhe, a wine broker, fell in love with Siran and devoted himself to it. So much so that in 1915 he bought back his aunts Sollberg's shares. We are deeply indebted to him, especially for the still delicious 1918 vintage.
