The Chateau La Favière vineyards are located in Saint-Seurin sur l'Isle, on the border of the Saint-Emilion vineyard in the Libourne region of the Gironde department. The vineyard covers 21 hectares and is managed using eco-friendly viticulture techniques. The oldest vines are over 50 years old; the average age is about 35 years. The bottom consists of alternating layers of gravel and fine sand over a clay subsoil, which ensures optimal drainage.
The grapes are picked by hand at full maturity, one plot at a time, taking into account the characteristics of the micro-terroirs. Then the selective vinification takes place per plot: maceration and 72 hours cold pre-fermentation, long fermentation period (more than 3 weeks) alternately in cement and wooden barrels. The malo-lactic fermentation is done directly in the barrel after which the wine is further matured for 12 months in oak barrels of which 50% new French oak
This beautiful Bordeaux Superior is a blend of the typical Bordeaux grapes, namely: Merlot: 60%. Cabernet Franc: 30%. Cabernet Sauvignon: 10%. In the glass, the wine has a generous and deep red color with great precision on the nose, where elegant, ripe berries and cherry blend perfectly with the autumnal scent of undergrowth. In the mouth the wine is initially supple but strong but then develops into (red) fruit, freshness with fine grained well integrated tannins but at the same time it remains soft and silky. In the aftertaste, the wine is perfectly balanced with supple and broad tannins, with a pleasantly long finish. Just a very nice glass of wine and in contrast to many good bordeaux is still very pleasant in terms of price. De La Favière has also received very good reviews from the international wine press.
A great prize-winning very affordable bordeaux from the beautiful Bordeaux year 2019. Definitely decant these in its younger years

- 90 pts Wine Enthusiast: “Perfumed with mint and new wood flavors, this wine is impressive for its appellation. It has layers of black fruits, rich integrated tannins and a solid texture. This dense wine will age for at least a year. So, drink from 2020.” Published 11/1/2019
