Description
Harvest and vinification of the 2019 Bodegas Roda Corimbo
The autumn started cold with some snowfall in November, which predicted a harsh winter. However, it turned out to be the opposite - a warm and dry start to the year, with abnormally high temperatures in February and almost 23 degrees in March. April brought some relief with rain and falling temperatures, followed by a cold and dry spring that slowed the cycle slightly. A small hailstorm on June 3 and a heat wave in late June affected the vines, but a storm two days before harvest had minimal impact due to bunch shifting. The result was a year of low production with small bunches of high quality.
The Corimbo 2019 from Bodegas Roda comes from the prestigious DO Ribera del Duero and consists of 100% of the Tinta del PaÃs (Tempranillo) variety. The small vineyards are located in La Horra, Roa and surrounding towns in Burgos, with vines averaging 20 years old.
The harvest, carried out by hand and carefully selected at the table, leads to spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels. A refined maturation of 14 months follows, in which 80% of the barrels are French oak and 20% American oak. Stabilization occurs naturally, and clearance is carried out with egg albumin. This intense wine has an impressive alcohol content of 14%.
Tasting notes 2019 Bogedas Roda Corimbo
Bodegas Roda introduces the Corimbo 2019, a deep red and compact wine with an open bouquet. The nose reveals soft and refined notes of ripe blackberries, cinnamon, pepper accents, a subtle licorice note and a balsamic freshness. The taste is full, elegant and extremely fine, where the harmony between fruit, herbs and a touch of sweetness gives it a unique character. Corimbo 2019 embodies the essence of Ribera del Duero and is possibly Bodegas Roda's best work to date, thanks to the excellence of the 2019 vintage.
Color: Intense layer with a cherry red hue. Bright red border.
Smell: Very intense with notes of fruit, blackberry and cherry, mixed with aromas of aromatic plants under the pine forest. The wood touch is impeccable, complex and subtle.
Taste: Full, elegant and very fine. Fruit and aromatic herbs form a harmonious whole. Cherries and blackberries emerge, with a background of marjoram. Refreshing balsamic notes and some spicy notes such as mint. The touch is very pleasant with the perception of fine tannins of high quality that give liveliness to the wine.
