One of the most famous wineries from Baden is Weingut Salwey. The winery is especially appreciated for its phenomenal wines from Grau-, Weiß und Spätburgunder, all of which are among the best wines in Germany. Another specialty is the Weissherbst (rosé type) from Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) and Riesling. The history of the winery dates back to the mid-18th century, with Weingut Salwey remaining unchanged in family hands and still located in its original location in Kaiserstuhl, Baden.
The total vineyard management includes 39 hectares with vineyard properties in: Oberrotweiler Kirchberg, Eichberg, Henkenberg and the Glottertaler Eichberg. A new cellar in Niederrotweil provides much-needed air and space for the planned 10-hectare vineyard expansion. Weingut Salwey is a member of the VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter), which includes the best wineries in Germany.
A delicious red Spätburgunder or a German Pinot Noir from Baden - without a doubt one of the most beautiful areas for the elegant and fruity Spatburgunder. In the glass, the wine is cherry red with a light rim as befits a Spatburgunder. This Spatburgunder can be summarized as a solid full, dry fruity red wine. In the glass, the wine has a light cherry red wine as befits a Spatburgunder. The wine is much more powerful than the color suggests. Lots of red fruit, lots of juice, lots of elegance. Very concentrated aftertaste. Pinot Noir at its best!
