2018 Trimbach Gewürztraminer

The Trimbach Gewürztraminer Alsace is the fruitiest and the most spicy from the Trimback series. It is especially in Alsace that this grape variety reaches the pinnacle of perfection.

Strict selection and sorting of the grapes in the vineyards. Gently pressed pneumatically for 2-3 hours. The juice from the last 30 minutes of pressing is kept separate and sold in bulk. Fermentation starts over the next 3-4 days and lasts for 2-4 weeks, depending on the vintages and grape varieties. No malolactic fermentation, preserving fruit purity, freshness and natural ripe acidity. The wine remains in barrels or stainless steel tanks until bottling, which begins in April and ends in September. Trimbach remains true to its style: dry and without wood aging. A longer cellar aging of 5-7 years is maintained for the best Gewürztraminers.

The wine has everything it needs to be a perfect Gewurztraminer wine. It has a certain fullness and sweetness but is also bone dry and super clean and elegant. Sniff once in the glass and you're done. So aromatic, deliciously seductively perfumed. Ripe, tropical fruits and a certain spiciness stimulate the senses. Ripe pineapple, orange, and a clear nose of lychee. The spicy taste is pleasant in the mouth and results in a long finish.

Its dry character makes it ideal as an aperitif and it fits perfectly with the special cuisine with distinct flavors. Gewurztraminer is a fine accompaniment to fish or spicy meat, spicy and exotic dishes, soft cheeses (such as the famous Munster) and an abundance of desserts.
