Only 1,300 bottles of this very tasty Tuscan Passito are made annually. The San Germano has a beautiful deep amber color and has the typical aroma of well-dried grapes (Vin Santo), spices and dried fruit (especially figs and apricots) on the nose. Intense, sweet wine, rich and full of fragrance. The wine is made by the quality winery Tenuta di Ghizzano and is certified organic ("Suolo e Salute" certificate).

Named after the patron saint of the village of Ghizzano, this wine is made from 80% Trebbiano, 15% Colombana and 5% Malvasia Bianca grapes that are harvested by hand at the end of September and then hung on stainless steel wires to dry. After about 4 months, the best grapes are carefully selected and pressed. The juice is then transferred to 'caratellis', traditional oak barrels with a capacity of 50 liters, for a period of 3 to 3.5 years. The winery ensures that the wine has sufficient space inside the barrels to ferment. The vineyards are located in Peccioli (Pisa) and are approximately 180 to 200 meters above sea level with a south, south-westerly exposure. This dessert wine tastes excellent with pastries, chocolate (truffles, pralines), ice cream desserts and medium mature cheeses.

Tenuta di Ghizzano is located in Ghizzano, close to the Tuscan coast, about 40 km from Livorno and 40 km south of Pisa. The area is also called Colline Pisane (Hills of Pisa). The wine estate is certified organic and biodynamic with a centuries-old history and famous for their terroir-driven wines. People do not like tricks and believe that the condition for a good wine must be the vineyard and a top wine therefore comes from a top vineyard. The wines from Tenuta di Ghizzano are all gems and of a high standard and this is also unanimously confirmed by wine critics.
