2018 Strydom Danièle Chenin Blanc

The Strydom Danièle Chenin Blanc is the top model of their Chenin Blanc version. In the glass, the wine has a beautiful golden yellow color with clear vanilla, ripe apricot, walnut, honey and tropical fruit in the nose. In the mouth this is an elegant, full bodied juicy chenin blanc which is wonderfully fresh with a good structure and enormous length. The Danièle Chenin Blanc is delicious with hearty, spicy dishes with white meat. Spicy dishes from Asian cuisine.

At Strydom they have had an ideal place. The vineyards have very low yields and are located in cooler areas and this gives the wines of Strydom freshness, elegance and a nice acidity. The Strydom Freshdom was created by a very passionate and gifted winemakers Rianie and Louis Strydom.

The Chenin grapes were brought in early in the morning and crushed in the press. The juice started a cold fermentation in the stainless steel tanks and after fermenting half the sugar, it was decanted into two 400L Amphorae clay pots for the first harvest. The second, slightly more mature batch, finished fermentation in two 500L and one 225L older French oak barrels. After the fermentation, the wine was kept on the lees (sur lie) for 8 months and this explains the complexity of this beautiful chenin blanc.
