Sessantanni Primitivo di Manduria DOP is a wine born to express the authenticity of the Primitivo grape in a new and modern interpretation. The first bottle of Sessantanni was filled after the acquisition of a 40-hectare bush vineyard (Alberello) that was more than sixty years old, which was eventually renamed "Valle del Sessantanni" (Sixty Years Old Valley), a single vineyard that marked a turning point for the entire area and which, with its unique style, has earned a reputation as an international reference standard for Primitivo wines.
The Sessantanni Primitivo di Manduria is the top model of San Marzano and the 2018 vintage has again received 98/100 points from Luca Maroni (the reviewer of Italian wines) and belongs to the best rated (high-end) Primitivo di Manduria and the wine is by Vivino consumers with a high score of 4 stars (4.5*) and gets the maximum score (trebicchieri) with 3 glasses of Gambero Rosso. For lovers of this sultry, warm, full-bodied wine, the Sessantanni Primitivo di Manduria is heaven.
The grapes for the Sessantanni come from an old vineyard located around the famous village of Manduria in Puglia - in the heel of Italy. The Primitvo grape is also called Zinfandel in America and is currently without a doubt one of the most popular grape varieties. Excellent quality at a great price/quality ratio. In addition to the iconic Primitivo di Manduria by Gianfranco Fino and the Puglia POP Luminaria, the San Marzano certainly belongs in the top 3 of the best Primitivo di Manduria wines. The Sessantanni has matured for 12 months in French and American oak. This is certainly reflected in the nose with the vanilla notes and aromas of cherries, plums, spices, leather and tobacco. In the mouth the wine is full bodied, powerful, creamy and a fruit bomb with notes of black fruit, cocoa, coffee and vanilla. The aftertaste is grand and compelling. He never ends.
