Redheads MCR1 Rouge
The Redheads winery has launched 2 new wines. The MC1R Blonde and the MC1R Rouge. MC1R is the gene that determines which hair color you get. The Redheads MC1R Rouge is a blend of mainly Pinot Noir and a little Shiraz come from the vineyards in Barossa. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks with an extended effect on the skins. The wine matures largely in stainless steel tanks, and only a small part in used oak barrels, to preserve the fruity character of the wine.
In the glass the MC1R Rouge is fresh garnet red. The MC1R is particularly elegant and comes out nicely when lightly cooled. The blend of Pinot Noir with a little Shiraz gives the wine a lot of fruitiness, freshness and subtle notes of mint and green herbs. In the nose especially cherry, raspberry and a little mind and in the mouth the wine is fresh, smooth and has flavors of raspberry, violets, green herbs and mint.
KNOW: The wines of RedHeads were the official house wines in 2019 during the RedHead Days in Tilburg. RedHead Days is the largest international festival for redheads and fans. 25,000 visitors from the Netherlands and far beyond the national border came to the festival. Visitors could taste the RedHeads wines and attend a master class.

It all started with a few Aussie winemakers who went to France to show the 'old hands' some new tricks there. Australian wine had conquered the world in the 1970s and 1980s. That's why Tony Laithwaite brought some Aussies to France. It was there that the very beginning of RedHead's new viticultural movement was laid.
In a small shed in McLaren Vale, a former Indian restaurant, some winemakers took on the challenge of making their dream come true: making beautiful, creative wines in small volumes with primary focus on quality.
They wanted to make wines without being bothered by all kinds of business worries, which resulted in an explosion of creativity and experiments.
Meanwhile, winery Redheads is making great international progress and they still give young talents the opportunity to let their creativity and talents loose on the best grapes in the region.
