The Rully vineyard is located on the Côte Chalonnaise, between the Bouzeron and Mercurey appellations. The vines are located here on the gently sloping slopes at an altitude of about 300 meters. The village is one of the most important breeding grounds for Chardonnay in Burgundy. The appellation produces white Premier Crus that rival those of the best villages of
the Cote.

Immediately after harvest, the chardonnay grapes are pressed in whole bunches in a pneumatic press and then a static settling of the juice is given for 24 hours at 12°C. The must then goes directly into barrels where the alcoholic and malolactic fermentations mature for 14 months in French oak barrels and demi-muids. Zero the dregs regularly
to aerate the wine while preserving its freshness. The Chardonnay produced is well aged through the oak barrels, giving it notes of hazelnut.

The Rully has a pale gold color in the glass. It has a fresh nose of yellow fruit and spices with hints of brioche and vanilla. On the palate, the gourmet texture is enhanced by discreet woody notes, which provide a delicate
peppery roast. This Rully is perfectly balanced with nice acidity that gives the wine a good backbone. This Rully Blanc is a delicious glass to enjoy and perfect with a mushroom risotto.

Vineyard for 2018 Prosper Maufoux Rully Blanc

Prosper Maufoux was founded by its name bearer in 1860 in Santenay, in the south of the Côte d'Or, where it remained in the hands of the Maufoux family for almost a century and a half in 1994. In 1860, Prosper Maufoux, a notary by profession, left his office to devote himself to his passion for wine. He founded his own house in Santenay, a Burgundian village in the south of the Côte d'Or, in the heart of the vineyards. His son Cyprien looked beyond the borders and brought Prosper Maufoux wines to the tables of England, the Netherlands, and the United States. He created a culture of openness to the world at home. The takeover in 2010 by Eric Piffaut resulted in significant investments in the winery, which resulted in a huge increase in quality. Prosper Maufoux is currently housed in the Château de Saint-Aubin, where there is plenty of room to guarantee the qualities achieved for the future. Towards the great growth in the south of the Côte de Beaune, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, between Chassagne and Puligny, and the immediate vicinity of Montrachet.

The wines are aged in oak barrels whose age, origin, and toast are carefully combined and adapted to the origin of the grapes and the vintage. They rest for 12 to 18 months in the vaulted cellars; an environment most conducive to development. The care taken at every stage of production is regularly rewarded with numerous medals and awards. The exceptional vineyards of Maison Prosper Maufoux extend into the mythical terroirs of the Côte de Beaune: Saint-Aubin, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. The family domain also extends to the Côte de Nuits, the Côte Châlonnaise and the Mâconnais.
