2020 Juan Gil Blue label

Juan Gil, family business founded in 1916 in the center of the city of Jumilla and is the champion of putting the Jumilia on the map as a (top) wine region and has led to several generations of winemakers standing up for the prestige/potential of the wines of the area and the qualities of the Monastrell grape. True to its origins, this winery has seamlessly merged tradition and technology with respect for the environment. Juan Gill is also the creator of the famous Clio and the world-famous El Nido.

The Juan Gil Blue Label (new name per vintage 2016). Previously the wine was called the Juan Gil 18 Meses and abroad the JUAN GIL ETIQUETA AZUL is a very scarce and beautiful wine. As the name suggests, the 18 meses has been aged for 18 months in French oak barrels and American oak. It is the top model from Juan Gil's Label series (Yellow, Silver and Blue). The grapes come from very old Monastrell grapes supplemented with Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level with a very low yield. The wine is dark purple in color and has a beautiful nose of graphite, earthy notes, spices, black fruit and a hint of balsamic vinegar. The wine is full bodied with a nice creamy mouthfeel with a nice long aftertaste. The wine is ready to drink but will improve further in the coming years and has very good storage potential. The Juan Gil 18 Meses or the Blue Label is a very scarce wine with many international enthusiasts, so it is important to be quick.
