This truly exquisite, powerful Weissburgunder Oberbergener Pulverbuck comes, as the name suggests, from the highest Pinot Blanc terroir of the domain. The terroir is located on the edge of the forest at an altitude of 400 meters, facing southwest. The fairly large lime deposits in the soil of this vineyard, combined with the aging in traditional small oak barrels and the spontaneous fermentation, have led to a very refreshing, mineral-driven and slightly more spicy Pinot Blanc. The vines are about 30 years old and the grapes are always very carefully selected by the winery. This wine has been one of the classics of the quality winery Franz Keller for over 40 years.
The Weissburgunder is light yellow to yellow in color with a fresh nose due to the great aromas of yellow apple, peach and apricot, and a touch of butter and spiciness of wood. In the mouth round, soft and aromatic with a high concentration and nice freshness. Very long, mineral finish.
This versatile wine can be used widely. Delicious to enjoy on its own and also goes well with a variety of dishes. Think of fish (salmon, tuna steak, etc.), shellfish and crustaceans, poultry, Asian dishes (curry, noodles), mild and soft cheeses.
This beautiful Pinot Blanc is produced by the authentic winery Franz Keller from the Kaiserstuhl area, part of the Baden wine region. The Kaiserstuhl is the warmest and sunniest wine region in Germany and is characterized by volcanic soils covered with fertile high loess deposits that provide excellent wine-growing conditions for what in Germany they call the Burgundersorten such as Weissburgunder, Grauburgunder, Chardonnay and Spätburgunder.
Franz Keller – Schwarzer Adler is a gastronomic concept in Baden and in fact also in the rest of Germany. The company consists of a wine estate, wine import, wine trade, hotel and no less than 3 restaurants. The company is run by Fritz Keller and his son Friedrich is mainly involved in wine making. The name Franz Keller stands for dry, refreshing, fruity but also complex and mineral-driven powerful wines. The wines are always of excellent, impeccable quality and enjoy great appreciation in Germany and far beyond. The winery considers it very important that the terroir, origin and character of the wine are reflected in the taste. The approach to winemaking is inspired by the wines and "savoir-vivre" of their French neighbours. The goal of this winery has been from the very beginning to make wines that are the perfect accompaniment to good food.
