2018 Francis Ford Coppola Eleanor

Eleanor has always been Francis' partner in all his endeavors since they met in 1962. The wine 'Eleanor' is a tribute to his wife and was first made in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary. A wine with extraordinary aromas and mouth-filling flavors, rich, velvety and with a refined complexity. Lively notes of plum, coconut and roasted nuts on the nose, which are accentuated with impressions of tobacco, chocolate, baking spices, vanilla, plum and blue fruit on the palate. Excellent length and concentration, 2018 is a vintage to remember. Eleanor 2018 is a blend of 55% cabernet sauvignon and 32% syrah supplemented with malbec, petite sirah and cabernet franc. The grapes come from vineyards in Sonoma County. The wine has matured for 15 months in French oak barrels. Highly recommended with Filet Mignon or beef carpaccio.

'I met Eleanor in 1962 at the start of my first feature film in Dublin, Ireland. She worked in the art department and we quickly became friends as we had a lot in common, both coming from artistic families and enjoying food and wine. Our friendship grew into a romance and we got married; Eleanor gives me the greatest creative gift possible, children. We moved to San Francisco to raise our new family and dreamed of a small country house in the Napa Valley with a few acres of grapes. Unexpectedly, we became the owners of a large and beautiful wine estate. We have lived on the property with our family ever since and our love for the land and for winemaking grew beyond our expectations to include wineries in both the Napa and Sonoma Valleys. Eleanor has always been a true partner in all my endeavors, bringing her creativity, honesty and generous spirit. She is a wife, mother, artist, filmmaker, collaborator and inspiration.
