Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard is one of the best producers from the famous village of Chassagne-Montrachet. The domaine has its origins in the fine Gagnard-Delagrange farms of fifty years ago, as the vineyards originate from the marriage of Richard Fontaine to Jacques Gagnard's eldest daughter, Laurence Gagnard, in 1982.
The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Grande Montagne is a beautiful light straw yellow in the glass. In the nose fresh aromas of peach, white currant, pear and roasted almonds. On the palate, the wine is medium to full bodied, satiny and enveloping, with an expressive core of fruit and juicy acidity. The La Grande Montagne comes from a (postage stamp) plot planted in 1991 and these are the youngest premier cru vines of Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard and this is also becoming his most famous Premier Cru so certainly a must for the Burgundy enthusiast. in the cellar.
