2016 Domaine de Marotte Cuvée Niels BIO

The Cuvée Niels from Domaine de Marotte comes from the Côtes du Ventoux and is a blend of Grenache 40%, Syrah 20%, Mourvèdre 20%, Carignan 20% from vineyards between 25-65 years old. The vineyard is managed organically (ECOCERT) so no fertilizers or chemical weed protection. The harvest is manual. The grapes are partly crushed and partly destemmed.

In the glass, the Cuvee Niels has a dark purple-red color. The nose is dominated by red fruit such as cherries, raspberries and wild strawberries and figs, some caramel, licorice and laurel spices. In the mouth, the wine is fruity and supple with ripe tannins and a nice full and round aftertaste. We continue to advise you to let this wine 'breathe' before drinking it to release the aromas better. It is a delicious wine for various dishes from the French, Italian and Spanish cuisine. And slightly chilled, our Cuvée Niels rouge also tastes very pleasant with dishes from the Dutch kitchen, also delicious with BBQ and hard cheese.

Domaine de Marotte is a winery whose owners are originally from the Netherlands, they say themselves: "Dutch wine, from France!". The owners are Daan and Elvire van Dijkman and the winery is located in Provence, in the South of France. Domaine de Marotte roughly stands for ' favorite hobby' and was already owned by the 'van Dijkman' family before it came into the hands of the current owners.
