2018 Domaine Buisson Battault Meursault Vieilles Vignes
This family domain already has 5 generations of winemakers. François Buisson has been a winemaker here since 1985. The first years he worked closely with his father, who managed the domain from 1945. Since 1991, François has completely taken over the domain, but his father remained very involved with the domain until the end of his life, 2003. The domain currently owns 8 hectares, divided over 14 appellations. François brings the terroir into the bottle, he looks for elegance. His wines are ready to drink young, but also have sufficient potential to age. From 2 to 10 years and even older. His wines are "read" as much as possible for optimal nutrition and receive a minimum of 12 months of barrique ageing, of which 20% is new wood.
This beautiful Meursault is a 100% Chardonnay located in the heart of the Meursaulkt in Les Malpoiriers, Les Pellans (Meursault). The soil is made of clay/limestone and the vineyard dates from 1930 so is almost 100 years old which is why Vielle has Vignes classification. The grapes are harvested by hand. The wine matures for 18 months on its lees in oak barrels (80% 1 year and 20% new oak). This is a very elegant classic Meursault with beautiful delicate buttery notes, brioche and with a nice minerality. The taste is fat with elegant ripe fruit and fine pure acids. The aftertaste is refined and long lasting. This Francois Buisson is great with shellfish, fish, white meat, foie gras and soft cheeses.
