The Chevalier de Lascombes is the second wine of Château Lascombes, a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé from Margaux. The wine is a blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc and it matures for 18 to 20 months in French oak barrels. Chevalier de Lascombes is not so much 'the little brother' but rather 'the other' of Ch. Lascombes. These are cuves that were not selected for the first wine, but also come from the great terroir and are vinified by the same team. This 'other' Lascombes has more charm, is more easily accessible and slightly less powerful, but very rich in fruit, juice and has a smooth taste. The wine is aged 100% in barrels of 1 year old, which were used for the first wine last year.
This great (and still affordable) Margaux) got 92-93/100 points from Suckling and has a drinking window until 2035+
Suckling writes: "Excellent second wine from Lascombes"
