2018 Chateau Mont-Redon Chateauneuf-du-Pape rouge

Located on the highest point of the hills surrounding the village of Chateauneuf du Pape. It is the largest (private) company of the Appellation. Quality at the top for years. The company belongs to the Abeil and Fabre families. In addition to Chateauneuf du Pape, they also make Lirac and Côtes du Rhône. With regard to the Chateauneuf du Pape, there are different labels such as "vignoble abeile" and "vignoble Fabre" but that the wine is always the same. Château Mont-Redon makes broad-shouldered class wines.

The Chateauneuf-du-pape from Mont Redon is a very strong wine from a great year. The 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape is composed of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 8% Mourvedre and 2% Cinsault, aged for 12 months for 45% in stainless steel tanks and 55% in barrels. In the nose we smell lots of spices and hints of leather, with sweet red fruits, cinnamon and truffle. This medium bodied wine is nicely balanced and is perfect to drink.

Around Châteauneuf-du-Pape stretches a landscape of gently sloping slopes and sometimes large plateaux. The characteristic soil is reddish earth covered with round boulders, small and large: Galets or Caillous roulés. These were carried along by the Rhone glacier at the time. In some places the cobblestone avenue is one and a half to two meters thick. The stones ensure that the grapes are fully ripe, because during the day they collect solar heat for these '
