The Château La Conseillante 2014 is a blend of 78% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc, picked from September 23 to October 2 and September 29 to October 6 respectively at 35 hectoliters per hectare. There was only 2.5% vin de presse and the Grand Vin represents 88% of the total production this year. The wine has nice notes of dry tobacco infused red and black fruit, hints of Provencal herbs and black truffle - very Pomerol-esque. The palate delivers the class. Smooth on the palate, highly rated acidity, balanced and long, the Cabernet Franc drives this forward and elevates the finish in terms of complexity. Slight spice comes into play to the finish that is feminine and nuanced with a delicious saltiness in the finish that will spur you on for another sip. The Conseillante is a top-notch Pomerol. James Suckling begins his review with: " Classical elegance in an uncompromising form ....." 92-94/100 Parker & 96/100 Suckling.
