Château de Beaucastel is set in a magical setting dotted with vineyards, ancient olive trees and truffle oaks. Beaucastel, that is the most famous wine of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Here you will find nature in its purest form and its strength comes to rest. The typical rolled boulders are the secret of its vineyards in which gnarled vines grow in the traditional 'gobelet' shape. On this ancient soil we find the 13 grape varieties that are allowed in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. All these 13 grape varieties form the basis of the mythical blends of Château de Beaucastel, where they are grown biodynamically. With this, they are one of the last to use the richness and complexity that this blend offers.
The history of Beaucastel starts in the early 17th century. The Perrins appeared in the early 20th century. We are now five generations later and there is a world company in the field of quality wines. From very affordable to the absolute top. Everything about vision, technique and vineyard management that has given Beaucastel the coveted global top position applies to the vineyards and the wines with the other designations of origin, such as Ventoux, Luberon, Cotes du Rhone, Gigondas, Vinsobres, Rasteau and Vacqueyras. While retaining its own character; the differences between the wines are large and prove the respectful method
The Chateauneuf du Pape Hommage a Jacques Perrin is a great wine. It is a blend of 60% Mourvèdre, 20% Grenache and Syrah and the rest Counoise, All this from very old vineyards. Only a very limited number of bottles are made of this top version of Beuacastel and this should not be missing in a top wine collection. In the Wine-Advocate's review, Jeb Dunnuck writes that he couldn't bring himself to spit out this wine during the tating!!
In the glass it has a deep black-ruby red color. The wine has an incredible minerality along with black and blue fruit, forest floor and leather. Full-bodied, inked, concentrated with serious tannins so let it rest in the cellar and this version certainly has a drinking window to 2045+ As they say at Chateau Beaucastel themselves this is "A wine to be kept for your retirement"
