Cepa 21 was founded by one of Ribera del Duero's best winemakers: Emilio Moro. Since 2022, CEPA 21 has stood on its own two feet and is led by Jose Moro (the brother of Javier Moro, the owner of Emilio Moro). Bodegas Cepa 21 is a boutique winery located in Castrillo de Duero, a Valladolid village in the area known as the Golden Mile. The vineyards of Bodegas Cepa 21 are one of its greatest assets. They are located at an altitude between 750 and 900 meters above sea level and face north. Both factors allow the grapes to ripen gradually, giving them complexity and freshness. The project has 50 hectares of its own vineyards on soils of silty sand, clay or limestone, most of them very close to the winery and planted with the area's clone of centuries-old vineyards (the purest Tempranillo from the Ribera del Duero).

The jewel called Horcajo, first appeared on the market in June 2018. The Horcajo plot that gives the name to this wine is located at an altitude between 850 and 900 meters. Its location provides excellent conditions for viticulture due to soil heterogeneity, soil fertility and ability to protect the vine from frost. These conditions ensure that this plot produces a rich and structured aromatic wine. This great red wine has a beautiful, very intense cherry red color that has also retained its color over the years. On the nose, the wine is exceptionally elegant and complex with a mature black fruit base, enriched with beautiful nuances through the wood aging. In the mouth, the balance and warmth are distinguished with a long and persistent aftertaste.

FACT: In the Tab: Annex you will find the official fact sheet of this wine. We will send it to you automatically when you order this wine. The Horcajo is only made in the best years. This 2018 vintage is the successor to the 2016. Only around 1,000-1,500 bottles are ever made of this topper
