2020 Casanova di Neri Rosso di Montalcino

Casanova di Neri Rosso di Montalcino shows how to produce a Sangiovese in our vineyards in Montalcino that can be drunk straight away. For production we use grapes from dedicated vineyards that ensure that they receive the same attention and care as for production of Brunello wines. The manual harvest takes place in October. The selection of the grapes before and after destemming is done by hand. This is followed by natural fermentation without the addition of artificial yeast. The maceration takes place in an open cone-shaped and temperature-controlled environment. The fermentation lasts 18 days. The wine then matures in wood for 12-18 months before it is released onto the market.

The Rosso di Montalcino shows the great potential of the Sangiovese grape without having to wait too many years. The wine has a fruity bouquet with aromas of, among others. cherries followed by soft and elegant tannins on the palate. The aftertaste is long to very long. The wine is ready to drink but can also be kept for years. The Rosso di Montalcino from the Neri Family are also called (and quite rightly) Alternative Brunellos and have often been the precursors of Brunello certified wines.
