2020 Wijngaard Bilderhof Cuvée Rood

The Cuveé Rood from Wijngaard de Bilderhof from historic Dordrecht is a blend of the grapes Regent & Cabernet Cortis. The wine was aged for 7 months in French oak. The wine is surprisingly fresh and full-bodied and can age without any problem for a few more years and will only get better. The wine has beautiful red fruit and some mineral and earthy notes. There is a good balance with good acidity.

This beautiful Cuveé Red won a Bronze Medal at the Wine Inspection of the Low Countries in 2017. This national wine competition is organized annually by Stichting Wijninstituut Nederland. You can read the report of this wine inspection on our website, under the wine information.

This wine tastes excellent on its own (standalone) but is also very pleasant to drink with a meal. Drink this wine around 16-18 degrees.

It is becoming a trend: Viticulture in the Netherlands and with climate change it is expected that the Netherlands may eventually become an important producer. We have a beautiful Dutch winery in our range, namely Wijngaard de Bilderhof from Holland's oldest city, Dordrecht. The winemaker Wilco Venhuizen has a beautiful vineyard and, unlike many Dutch hobbyists, has chosen to select grapes that do particularly well in our climate, such as the Dornfelder, the Rondo, the Cabernet Cortis and the Johnanniter. These grapes thrive in our climate and produce very unique white and red wines.
