One of the upcoming stars from the Valdeorras / Galicia is the winery Val De Sil which focuses strongly on the Galician grape the Godello and the red Mencia. The bodega has its vineyards in the Sil valley with its unique egg soils which make the wines of this house unique. Valdesil Valderroa 2014 is prepared from 100% mencía. The grapes grow at 500 m above sea level, on the high terrace slopes of the municipalities of Rubiá, A Rúa, Petín and O Bolo. The vineyards are on average 15 years old. The yield is limited to 25 hl / ha and the terroir consists mainly of dark slate. Each plot was manually harvested with small baskets. Then a careful grape selection took place. The must was fermented with wild yeast in stainless steel tanks and pumped regularly. Finally, the wine matured in stainless steel tanks for 7 months.
The Valderroa is Mencía in its purest state. The proximity to the Atlantic Ocean makes for an unprecedented fresh and delicate wine (especially for a wine in this price range). The Valderoa has a bright ruby red color, with a garnet red hem. In the nose we smell fresh pure notes of aromatic red fruit aromas (raspberry and plum) with mineral elements. On the palate, the wine is fresh, fresh and intensive with beautiful fruit and well integrated tannins makes this wine perfectly balanced. The Valderroa is a wine with an almost Burgundian perophile. Fresh yet full buddha. Minerality, Freshness and Full of red and dark fruit in a glass that is the Valderroa.
